The cuneate drum, , is a native sciaenid species with relevant commercial importance in China. However, the wild resource represented by this species has been severely damaged owing to overfishing and water pollution. For conserving and recovering the species through appropriate measures, genetic studies on the population are necessary. The complete mitochondrial genome of is a supplement to the mitogenome database for giant croakers and can be used to address taxonomic problems and phylogenetic relationships in Sciaenidae. In this study, we sequenced and characterized the complete mitochondrial genome of . The full length of the complete mitochondrial DNA was 16,490 bp. It contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes and a control region. All 21 tRNA genes can fold into a typical cloverleaf structure except for (AGY), which lacks a dihydrouridine arm. The phylogenetic analysis using the complete mitochondrial genome revealed that , , and might be grouped in , but not belonged to of Argyrosominae, which was highly consistent with the proposal of Talwar. This investigation provides an effective molecular tool for genetic research on and protection of this endangered species.
楔形笛鲷是中国具有重要商业价值的本地石首鱼科物种。然而,由于过度捕捞和水污染,以该物种为代表的野生资源遭到严重破坏。为了通过适当措施保护和恢复该物种,有必要对其种群进行遗传学研究。楔形笛鲷的完整线粒体基因组是对大黄鱼线粒体基因组数据库的补充,可用于解决石首鱼科的分类问题和系统发育关系。在本研究中,我们对楔形笛鲷的完整线粒体基因组进行了测序和特征分析。完整线粒体DNA全长16490bp,包含13个蛋白质编码基因、22个tRNA基因、2个rRNA基因和一个控制区。除tRNA-Ser(AGY)缺乏二氢尿嘧啶臂外,所有21个tRNA基因均可折叠成典型的三叶草结构。基于完整线粒体基因组的系统发育分析表明,楔形笛鲷、日本笛鲷、勒氏笛鲷和红鳍笛鲷可能归为笛鲷属,但不属于银身笛鲷亚科的银身笛鲷属,这与塔尔瓦尔的提议高度一致。本研究为该濒危物种的遗传研究和保护提供了有效的分子工具。
