Abstract

AlO is a gangue component in iron ores, significantly influencing the formation and crystallization of calcium ferrite in the sintering process. But the mechanism of the AlO effect on the crystallization of calcium ferrite is rarely reported. In this work, a crystallization device was designed to investigate the crystallization behavior of calcium ferrite in FeO-CaO-SiO-AlO melt under non-isothermal conditions. XRD, SEM-EDS, and optical microscopy were used to identify the crystalline phase and the microstructure of samples. The result shows that the crystal morphology of SFCA changed in the order of strip, column, and needle as the AlO content increased. The crystallization sequence of samples containing AlO was observed as CaFeO (CF) → FeO → CaFeAlO (SFCA-I) → CaFeO (CF) → CaSi(Fe, Al)O (SFCA) → γ-CaSiO (CS). The generation pathway of SFCA-I was found to be CF + Si + Al → SFCA-I. Increasing the cooling rate can promote the formation of CF, SFCA-I, FeO and the amorphous phase. However, it prevented the crystallization of CF and SFCA while inhibiting the transformation of β-CS to γ-CS. When the AlO content reached or exceeded 2.5 mass pct, the viscosity of FeO-CaO-SiO-AlO melt increased sharply, resulting in the decrease in the crystal size of calcium ferrite.

AlO是铁矿石中的一种脉石成分,在烧结过程中对铁酸钙的形成和结晶有显著影响。但AlO对铁酸钙结晶影响的机制鲜有报道。在本工作中,设计了一种结晶装置,以研究FeO-CaO-SiO-AlO熔体在非等温条件下铁酸钙的结晶行为。采用XRD、SEM-EDS和光学显微镜来鉴定样品的晶相和微观结构。结果表明,随着AlO含量的增加,SFCA的晶体形态依次为条状、柱状和针状。含AlO样品的结晶顺序为CaFeO(CF)→FeO→CaFeAlO(SFCA-I)→CaFeO(CF)→CaSi(Fe,Al)O(SFCA)→γ-CaSiO(CS)。发现SFCA-I的生成途径为CF + Si + Al→SFCA-I。提高冷却速率可促进CF、SFCA-I、FeO和非晶相的形成。然而,它阻止了CF和SFCA的结晶,同时抑制了β-CS向γ-CS的转变。当AlO含量达到或超过2.5质量百分比时,FeO-CaO-SiO-AlO熔体的粘度急剧增加,导致铁酸钙晶体尺寸减小。
