Knowledge concerning coronary artery disease and the factors associated with its production was assessed in two groups of patients during convalescence from complications of coronary artery disease. In one group additional instruction had been provided by a nursing instructor. Results indicate that special instruction was responsible for improved understanding of the underlying disease and also improved compliance with physicians' prescriptions. It is suggested that these effects lessen residual disability from coronary artery disease.
