Studies were undertaken in order to demonstrate the role of the renin-angiotensin system for blood pressure homeostasis in sodium depleted and renal hypertensive (acute and chronic) rats. Purified antibodies and Fab fragment against mouse submaxillary were able to complete inhibited plasma activity in rats. The depressor response was compared with the converting enzyme inhibitor teprotide SQ20881. Teprotide, showed an additional depressor response indicating that effect of converting enzyme blockade is due to factors other than renin-angiotensin blockade.
