The surgical correction of blepharoptosis by using plantaris tendon.

Many methods are available for the correction of blepharoptosis. Detailed pre-operative evaluation, especially the degree of levator function present, is important in deciding the surgical procedure necessary. The author uses autogenous plantaris tendon for use as a sling to suspend the tarsus to the frontalis muscle and some of the advantages of using plantaris tendon as a fascial graft are outlined. The technique employed in the frontalis sling procedure is discussed in detail.
