The demonstration of neck torsion nystagmus confirms the diagnosis of cervical spine syndrome. To demonstrate this finding, it is necessary to observe the following points: Precise performance of the examination technique; ENG with absolute isolation of the patient; examination with an easily movable rotating chair; prevention of turning of the patient's head in the direction of the chair's movement. Spontaneous nystagmus, movement of the eyelids, optokinetic nystagmus, and electrical artefacts all interfere with detection of neck torsion nystagmus, and are sources of error in its study.
