[Possible mechanism of action of isoquinoline and phenothiazine derivatives, nitrites and nitrates on myocardial oxygen consumption].

It has been demonstrated in experiments with isolated pieces of the rat myocardium that papaverine, Nospa, nonachlazine, etmozine, nitroglycerin and sodium nitrite are capable to reduce the rate of oxygen consumption by the myocardium at the expense of variation in mitochondrial respiration according to the malonate-like action.
