[A new surgical method for the treatment of velopharyngeal overgrowth].

The obstruction between meso- and epipharynx--caused by scarification--is to be considered as a major complication after tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy. Up to recently, this complication was paid little attention in medical publications. A new method in reconstructing the pars oralis pharyngis and the isthmus faucium by pedicled mucosal flaps, is presented here. By designing the adequate flaps, a normal nasopharyngeal passage can easily be achieved with this method, even in cases of total obstruction.
