Laying pullets dosed with aflatoxin B1 showed a significant decrease in egg production at aflatoxin levels of 0.7 mg per kg body weight per day or higher. When the dose was 5 mg/kg, production ceased after three days. At 1.0 or 0.7 mg/kg, no effect on production was apparent until four to five weeks after the 14-day dosing period. No aflatoxin B1 could be detected chemically in eggs during dosing or for 10 weeks following dosing.
