Some of the 123I/125I/131I/-orthoiodohippurates available on the market were examined regarding their radiochemical purity. Because of its high sensibility, the reversed phase high pressure liquid chromatography was chosen as analytical method. The unnecessary radiation exposure of the thyroid, ovaries, testes and red bone marrow caused by the free iodide present as radiochemical impurity was estimated. The results showed that all examined orthoiodohippurates meet the minimum requirements of radiochemical purity established in the European Pharmacopoeia.
