Treatment of urinary and faecal incontinence using the Mitrofanoff principle or the antegrade continence enema technique requires the creation of a catheterisable stoma. Although the appendix is by far the most satisfactory structure for the creation of this channel, its removal or use in previous surgical reconstruction may force the use of alternatives. We describe the use of the pedicled gastric tube for this purpose.
