Clinical nurse case management: a service line approach.

Quality improvement and cost-effective outcomes are achieved through an alliance with clinical or "internal" and community care management. Quality and cost outcomes during the acute-care phase for 25 elective case managed patients were compared against a control group of 25 non-case managed patients. Results reveal improved preoperative resource utilization and patient education.
