Subarachnoid hemorrhage from an intracranial aneurysm is a frequently fatal but potentially curable problem. Surgery is done to prevent further hemorrhage and it allows for the aggressive treatment of vasospasm. This article reports one surgeon's experience in the past year with early intervention and microsurgical ligation of 19 aneurysms in 17 consecutive patients. There were 11 good results, 6 fair results, 1 poor result and 1 death. No patient has re-bled following surgery.
