This article reports on the successful acceptance of voluntary sterilisation in Paarl. Emphasis has been put on postpartum sterilisation with increasing acceptance by women with 3 or 4 children. Average parity at time of sterilisation has diminished from 7,52 in 1971 to 5,70 in 1974. The grand multipara has virtually been eliminated--reduction of grand multiparas should be a top priority in any comprehensive family planning scheme.
本文报道了帕尔地区自愿绝育手术被成功接受的情况。重点是产后绝育，有3个或4个孩子的女性对此的接受度不断提高。绝育时的平均产次已从1971年的7.52降至1974年的5.70。极高龄经产妇实际上已被消除——在任何全面的计划生育计划中，减少极高龄经产妇都应是首要任务。
