The early stages of MUMPS demonstrated the language's reliability and functionality, yet it was limited to operating on standalone mainframe and minicomputer architectures. Slowly, as technology progressed and client-server networks became a reality, the speed and performance of MUMPS has brought new dimensions to healthcare.
