Factors influencing physician choice of an outpatient surgery and testing facility.

Factors that influence physician choice to use the outpatient satellite facility of a major pediatric medical center are examined. Results are reported separately for surgeons' use of outpatient surgery suites and general pediatricians' referral to testing services. The findings support the importance physicians assign to high quality technical/medical support services when making decisions about choice of service provider. They also support the importance of patient preferences in choosing an outpatient satellite facility.
