In the face of increasing revenue shortfalls, 367-bed Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia is betting on improved relations with its physicians, continuous quality improvement and multidisciplinary teams of employees to identify ways to curtail costs and become more efficient. "There's no magic bullet," says John B. Neff, president of Frankford Health Care System, in the following interview with Donald E.L. Johnson, editor and publisher of Health Care Strategic Management. Neff would like to see health care move away from à-la-carte services to providing care through integrated delivery systems.
