In a response to public criticism of spiraling healthcare costs, a handful of hospitals have cut room rates and other patient charges in an effort to make their services more affordable, allowing the facilities to use their low-cost image as a marketing tool. To help keep a lid on their prices, the hospitals are focusing on slashing administrative costs while investing in outpatient and home healthcare services.
