Operational optimization through custom programming and a multi-user environment.

This report describes the use of microcomputers which use custom written software to rectify inadequacies of a hospital wide computer system. The current laboratory information system is unable to provide patient reports which adequately track Clinical Immunology Laboratory test results over an extended time frame. The approach taken by this reference laboratory has proven to be extremely useful to physicians; it aids in laboratory quality assurance activities and increases the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory.
