This article explores the complexities of the proposed health care reform and the methodologies by which hospitals are coping with the impending changes. The article focuses on a large multihospital system in Alabama and the reorganization in process at that facility. Centralization as a key to more efficient management, as well as the partnering with smaller hospitals, is highlighted as an approach to dealing with health care reform.
