The US Supreme Court is reviewing the issue of physician assisted suicide after two lower court cases, Quill v. Vacco and Washington v. Compassion in Dying, struck down state statutes that prohibited assisted suicide in New York and Washington on constitutional grounds. The debate over physician assisted suicide has been a concern for health care personnel, as well as the public, for several years.
