Medicare+Choice program; collection of user fees from Medicare+Choice plans and risk-sharing contractors--HCFA. Interim final rule with request for comments.

This interim final rule with a request for comments establishes the methodology that will be employed to assess fees applicable to Medicare risk-sharing contractors for fiscal year (FY) 1998. Under section 4002 of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, these contractors must contribute their pro rata share of costs relating to beneficiary enrollment, dissemination of information, and certain counseling and assistance programs. The Medicare+Choice regulation to be published in June of 1998 will implement this requirement for Medicare+Choice plans.
