Latex sensitivity--a safety hazard.

Latex allergy is a significant safety issue for both healthcare workers and patients because of the widespread use of latex products and because of the severity of the sensitivity reactions that may occur in allergic individuals following exposure. Data shows that common, but often occult, immediate latex allergy merits more attention among healthcare workers. Because of this, each facility should have policies and procedures in place to address the issue of latex sensitivity.
