A platform independent teleradiology system based on Web services.

This paper describes NetRad, a Teleradiology application based on an open, non-proprietary architecture implemented using only Web and Java technologies. A comparison with other proprietary teleradiology systems suggests that the proposed solution is attractive, being completely independent of the hardware and software platform. This architecture allows easy maintenance and fast development of new distributed capabilities. Finally, it is based on a user interface paradigm widely known and accepted all over the World.
