Under pressure from consumers, a growing number of health plans are offering a variety of nontraditional treatments, such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medications. Although alternative medicine still has its critics because many treatments are still scientifically untested, some estimates put the size of the market at $24 billion, a figure projected to increase 15% per year.
