Acute life endangering ethanol intoxication treated in the intensive medical care unit.

Personal observations of 5 cases of acute life-endangering ethanol intoxication who were treated in the intensive medical care unit. The authors discuss the mechanism of ethanol-induced changes and the method used in the treatment of this intoxication. They also request that hospital laboratories should provide facilities for performing blood alcohol level determinations in emergencies.
