The purpose of this article is to guide the computer-shy hospital pharmacy manager through the various choices concerning personal computer technology. The author discusses available computer programs that are easy to learn and can help pharmacists manage time and resources more efficiently. The Tandy 1000SX computer with the Deskmate integrated software program has been selected as one system that contains all basic computer systems. It is inexpensive and requires minimal learning time. Mastery of the computer and an integrated software program can facilitate improved productivity for interested pharmacists.
