Radiology information systems: looking to the future.

Radiology information systems will soon be able to help store and access digital images by interfacing with picture archiving and communication systems, and will include voice-recognition technology to speed up report transcription. Before these systems are molded to the technologic advances, however, they will likely be interfaced first with hospital information systems and upgraded to solve existing management problems in radiology departments.
