The need for qualified radiology personnel is expected to grow at a faster than average rate during the next decade according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. The demand for qualified personnel is a real and current problem for managers in many parts of the country today. Supplying the demand is the dilemma faced by the educator. In approaching this dilemma and in seeking solutions to the problem, this article will concentrate on three broad issues: recruitment and retention of qualified program applicants, current program trends, and the program curriculum. The facts will be presented, as best known today, and suggestions will be provided to address the major concerns identified.
