The instruction manuals for Infusion Units often suggest connecting a "drop counter unit" internally to the Drops indicator lamp using clips at the lamp socket. The Infusion Drop-Rate Calibrator described in this article provides a fast, accurate dynamic test without the necessity of opening the Infusion Unit under test. This simple and useful device also provides an audible signal to verify the operation of the drop-sensor. This is accomplished by watching the drop chamber while listening to the relay "click" of the calibrator. The calibrator photocell pick-up probe is simply aimed at or attached to the Drops indicator lamp of the Infusion Unit under test. The calibrator counts and totals the number of times that the Drops lamp flashes during a specific interval of time.
