Elective surgery after a complete physiological workup can improve the results for a certain group of patients. The experiences with the Taylor procedure in open surgery promise the interest of gastroenterologists to include elective surgery among the therapeutic options. As experienced with other procedures, a minimally invasive approach will increase patients' acceptance of surgical treatment.
