The different specific and non-specific general effects of ultra-violet rays are discussed. Intro-oral ultra-violet irradiation is indicated in all ulcerous and ulcero-aphthous diseases of the gingiva and the remaining oral mucosa. The author's experience does not plead for other applications, e. g., in case of parodontopathia inflammata and parodontopathia dystrophica, which is sometimes recommedned.
