Keeping the lines open.

Central venous catheters (CVCs) often become occluded. Many of the guidelines for the use of CVCs are ambiguous and do not offer clear guidelines for practitioners. This article discusses the development of a local policy for maintaining or increasing the patency of CVCs in acutely ill adults.
