Just as medical technology has made quantum leaps during the past few decades, the business side of running and maintaining a medical practice has changed dramatically as well. Gone are the days when physicians could submit bills to insurance companies and expect to receive timely payment. Even longer gone are the days when patients walked into a doctor's office actually prepared to write a check or leave cash for services. Today, the task of billing and collecting is more complex, more time consuming, and more deserving of the attention of a skilled office worker.
