Anatomy and pathology of the tricuspid valve are presented in a short survey. Annulus fibrosus and leaflets are less firm than those of the mitral valve, whereas the tricuspid orifice is larger than the mitral orifice. Isolated tricuspid disease - congenital or acquired - occurs only rarely. Functional non organic tricuspid regurgitation is clinically of primary importance.
