Bench surgery which included ex vivo partial nephrectomy with subsequent autotransplantation was successfully performed on a solitary kidney containing renal cell carcinoma. Helpful adjuncts included perfusion with a hyperosmolar intracellular-like solution, perfusion with a preservation machine and upside-down ipsilateral transplantation.
