Avulsion injuries in patients receiving corticosteroids.

Minor trauma often produces avulsion injuries to the skin and soft tissue of patients who are receiving corticosteroid therapy on a continuing basis. Effective emergency management of these wounds reduces the duration of disability for the patient. Early grafting is a more conservative course in terms of predictable patient recovery than watchful waiting. The most important aspects of this treatment are immediate grafting and sufficient immobilization of the graft by the dressing.
