[Edlan-Mejchar's method as a preprosthetic surgical measure for the stabilization of total mandibular prostheses. Report on first experiences].

In the present 1-year study, the method inaugurated by Edlan and Mejchar as a "periodontal-preventive operation intended for deepening the lower oral vestibule" was used as a preprosthetic-surgical measure. The operating technique is described in detail and the suitability of this method is proved by the results from 13 patients. It is a very recommendable method for deepening the lower oral vestibule.
