Acupuncture analgesia in dentistry: an analysis of studies from the People's Republic of China.

Studies conducted on the use of acupuncture analgesia for dental procedures in the People's Republic of China have not provided sufficient evidence to indicate that acupuncture analgesia can replace conventional drugs as the preferred anesthetic. However, studies currently in progress in China and in the United States may be successful in finding ways to reduce the failure rate and in determining the operative benefits of acupuncture.
