The technique of renal transplantation in the rat was modified by anastomosing the renal vein to the portal vein. Transplantation of DA-kidneys to BDE-Han-rats did not result in a prolongation of survival time in this strong histoincompatible system. No differences were found in the immune response on the 7th postoperative day.
