Benign breast disease.

When faced with a suspicious clinical or mammographic finding, patients may be anxious about the possibility of breast cancer. Because many of these findings are benign, clinicians attempt to make a rapid and accurate diagnosis to definitively rule out carcinoma. Imaging plays a key role in diagnostic strategies. This article addresses some of the more common benign breast diseases and their differential diagnosis from malignant breast disease.
