The U.S. military health system has undergone a number of changes; however, indications are that more are needed. A major issue is whether the system can provide the health care needed to the increasing number of military retirees and their family members who are eligible for Medicare. In this paper, the authors recommend, based on the reviewed evidence, a possible long-term solution to the issues affecting Medicare-eligible military retirees and their family members.
