It is the primary responsibility of the plastic surgical skin care specialist to support the patient care philosophies of the plastic surgeon and the practice, while contributing his or her expertise to optimize patient care outcomes. The clinical role in the medical environment differs from other sources for skin care because of the patient care component; the whole person enveloped in the skin is included in the equation.
