Abstract
Sphaerirostris wertheimae sp. n., is described from Burhinus oedicnemus and Vanellus vanellus in Israel. It is characterized by having 42 to 50 longitudinal rows of 12 to 14 hooks, the largest of which are 44 to 56 mu long. Seventeen species of Acanthocephala are reported from birds, mammals, and a reptile.
