Treatment of snake bite in Australia. Some observations and recommendations.

Amongst snake bite deaths in Australia there are a number which could be considered as avoidable. Prompt and adequate administration of the appropriate antivenene, when indicated, combined with a more intensive surveillance of snake bite victims, would decrease the number of fatalities.
