The film Kolya (1996) directed by Jan Sverak, illustrates the antiphonal calling and answering development between man and boy who are both thrown and drawn together. Amid the larger context of the "Velvet Revolution" in Czechoslovakia, each supports the quieter revolution in the development of the other. The intraplay and interplay deepen with consideration of the father-son collaboration between director (son) and playwright-actor (father) which gave rise to this remarkable picture.
