Chordomas are tumors originating from remnants of the notochord, most commonly found in the cranial and caudal regions. This is a report of the seventh intrathoracic chordoma in the world literature and the second to be reported in a woman. Histologically the physalipherous (blister-bearing) cell is characteristic of the tumor. Complete surgical excision is rarely successful and recurrence with or without metastasis is the rule.
脊索瘤是起源于脊索残余组织的肿瘤，最常见于颅部和尾部区域。本文报告的是世界文献中第七例胸段脊索瘤，也是第二例有女性患者的报告。从组织学上看，含液泡（有水泡）细胞是该肿瘤的特征。完整的手术切除很少成功，复发伴或不伴转移是常有的情况。
