A review of the literature indicates that the study of dyslexia has been almost exclusively confined to the higher cortical processes. The suggestion is made that more thought should be directed to the attentional functions underlying these processes. It is further suggested that medication should be more extensively used and that dosages higher than those usually prescribed should be considered.
