Abstract
Current problems in epidemiology in the Czech Republic in comparison with the past orientation are discussed. Reasons for transition from the epidemiology of communicable diseases towards the epidemiology of chronic noninfectious diseases are described. The importance of epidemiologic methodology is pointed out.
