Small amounts of whole blood from repeatedly bled donors increased the replacement rate of plasma protein in dogs, cats and rabbits subjected to hemorrhage. Results obtained within three hours were statistically significant. This strongly suggests that a chemical mediator, to hasten restoration of plasma protein levels, is released into the blood during hypoproteinemia.
